A special occasion deserves a relaxed approach and personalised planning, whether your ceremony is small and intimate or casual and contemporary. You can look forward to your special day, knowing that everything will go smoothly.
Our ceremonies are simple, relaxed, and unique to each couple. We’ll assist you in writing your vows, guide you in selecting readings and promises, and — if you wish — include religious or symbolic elements that reflect your love and commitment.
Types of Ceremonies
Civil Weddings offers two ceremony options:
- Bespoke Ceremony – £280.00
Includes: £75.00 non-refundable deposit and a commemorative certificate - Prewritten Ceremony – £150.00
Includes: £50.00 non-refundable deposit
Bespoke Ceremony
Our Bespoke ceremony allows you to express yourselves fully. Get creative with readings and rituals that are meaningful to you, and include family and friends in ways that feel right.
Your ceremony is written just for you and can include multiple readings, rituals, and elements of your choice. You decide what goes into your ceremony.
Prewritten Ceremony
A cost-effective alternative, our Prewritten ceremony includes:
- Brief welcome and opening words
- Your preferred choice of vows
- Exchange of ring vows
- One reading of your choice
Perfect for couples who prefer a no-frills ceremony or have made a spontaneous decision to marry at home or outdoors. A commemorative certificate is available for an additional £5.00 on request.
Additional Costs
- Public Holiday ceremonies: An additional fee of £75.00 applies.
- Meetings and rehearsals: Mileage is charged at 45p per mile.
- No mileage charge within Essex: We do not charge for travel to ceremonies held within Essex.
- Travel outside Essex: For ceremonies, meetings, or rehearsals outside Essex, we charge for:
- Mileage at 45p per mile
- Rail fares, airfares, and accommodation costs incurred
Script Review
Once your Bespoke or Prewritten ceremony script is ready, your Celebrant will email a copy for review. Most ceremonies go through 2–3 drafts to ensure everything feels just right.
